Mk III-T Assembly

Fuel Pump, Oil Cooler, Left Side Engine

This view of the engine installation shows another view of the tubular mounts tying the engine into the cage structure.  The fuel pump is mounted in the side pod, which will be enclosed by the top skin, with an access port for servicing.  The end of the water/oil cooler can be seen just behind the bulkhead, next to the bell crank for the shift linkage.

                    Front Suspension, Steering, Brakes

With front suspension assembled, the Koni shock, monoshock pivot and pushrods can be seen.  Steering inboard pivot is in line with upper link pickups, so zero bumpsteer is expected.

Right Rear View, Turbo, Intercooler, Battery

The intercooler is from a Ford Probe Turbo, and will be plumbed to the blow-off valve and then to the throttle body.  Radiator header tank is vertically mounted in the front corner of the engine bay, near the cutoff switch and jumper plug.  Right sidepod also contains the fire system.

                                  Ignition and Wiring

Fuel injection ECU is by SDS (Simple Digital Systems) of Calgary, while ignition is by stock Honda spark box and regulator/rectifier.  All wiring by Donald B Haaversen.

Rear Quarter View, all systems installed

Air flow from intercooler to throttle body, with blow-off valve in place, can now be seen.  The blow-off valve protects the turbo from surge, and helps keep it spooled up during closed-throttle events (braking, downshifting, etc.).  Rear suspension is all in place, Eibach springs and rear coilovers installed.  Note that, at present, no anti-roll bar is fitted, although installation would be easily accomplished with mounts on upper crossmember of rear bulkhead.

Bolts can be seen attaching rear cylinder head to rear bulkhead, completing the involvement of the engine as a load-bearing member in the rear chassis bay.

Front Monoshock Installation, showing droop limiter

Pedal box is shown, including brake balance bar, as well as front suspension pushrods and monoshock rocker system.  Mounted on the footbox upper brace is an adjustable droop limiter, such that the top of the rocker abuts on an adjustable strut.  Inner pickup bolts for the lower A-arms can be seen just straddling the steering u-joint, showing how close to chassis centerline the pivots are.

                                                                                       Body Installed, Ready for Paint

The body is installed in several sections: nose, tail, side pods, and cowl panel.  It is thus easily possible for an individual to install the body alone, rather than needing help for a one-piece shell.  The shell was developed from a shell used by Paul Shinsky’s DSR, originating with a Lola S2000 form.  Thus no wing is used, since the shell develops significant downforce without adding the complication and aerodynamic drag of a wing.  There are no ground effects additions to the car.
