Purpose-built, single seat Sports Racing
vehicle
Minimum weight 900 lbs with driver
Flat-bottom design, utilizing external downforce,
but no ground effects
Engine limited to 1000cc normally aspirated, or
620cc forced induction
As it developed over several years, several of these elements have evolved, such that currently (2008), extensive ground effects are now used in current cars, forced induction displacement limit has been increased to 680cc; these changes have not been incorporated into Mk III-T.
A brief history of the Zonker designation will be offered, including an overview of the technology involved in each, followed on succeeding pages by considerable detail on the conception and execution of the various elements incorporated into the Mk III-T, the final member of the series.
Since the primary purpose of this site is to provide information that a prospective owner of the Mk III-T might wish to have, and since I am unlikely to cover all details one may wish to know, please feel free to contact me with any questions. I have many, many photographs of the process of construction; I can probably provide a close-up look at an area of particular interest.
